Mask Reflection
Project Description: so, basically the point of this mask project was to show how you have been socialized and let it show onto a plastered mask. But most importantly, know how other people see themselves and how the see you. Which I believe will be with you until you die, but that is besides the point. WE begin with putting plaster on “your face” let it dry for a day,put plaster on It,put modge podge, sanded it, the we begin to paint the mask with vibrant and not so vibrant colors to portray how you have been socialized
Responsibility: At What extent did I push myself in this project? I pushed myself when I knew that one try was not enough, when I started my first mask, I kept adding unneeded plaster and modge podge until it was like a brick.I knew that that mask was not going to get me anywhere, So, Joe made another one for me and that one was MUCH better. I settled for the easy way when I started painting my mask because did not add the features that I would have liked. That is how I settled how for the easy way. Advocacy:to tell the truth, I used very little advocacy while in the making of my mask. Although, I did get most of my help from my peers around me. Throughout my time making my mask, I have not asked stephen for any help/ advice. There were not any instances That I Advocated for amy classmates/peers.When I knew I needed to make another mask and start over, Once I finished everything,I took very much pride in my work. It did not felt like I did it in 3 weeks. It felt like I worked on it for months. End of paragraph 3.
Personal Growth and development:For the mask project, It did not impact me as much as a person unlike the socialization project. That project make me think In different viewpoints other than my own,for examples such as teenager stereotypes. I thought that adults think of the select group of people as not responsible, or rude, instead. They think of us as drug addicts or some type of lower form of humanity, maybe not that last one but you should get the point. This is the end of my reflection

socialization essay
Hi, I am Nicholas Gilmore, And this is my socialization essay. I will be talking about the way a man thinks, talks, and is stereotyped to be that way. I will also be talking about how a teenager really is, compared to what society thinks this nonfunctional, confused, and irresponsible adolescent teenager is. But, before all that, I would Like to say that this essay was inspired because of what I am now,(teenager) and what I will be in the future.(a man) and a middle class child. so, let's get this started.
When you think of teens, you think of dark, edgy, always wearing a hoodie, moody, ETC. but what are they really? I do not know what about putting on a hoodie in the middle of summer, but it is very nice to do so. Also, if you were to look up the regular teen on google images, you will notice that the picture of the teen is genuinely happy, hanging out with friends, and looking like he enjoys life. However, if you Google the stereotypical teen, you get a different result. It shows the teens together, usually in a friend group, but the teens are certainly unhappy. They are moody, always on their phones, never looking up, and always in a hoodie. The part of the picture that bothers me the most was that they were smoking. All of them. I looked more into it, and that is a stereotype of teenagers: all teenagers smoke or vape, All the time,if you ask of my opinion, that's not true. Another stereotype sa about teens is that teens have less intellect than adults only because Their brain is still forming. Which is not exactly true To a point. While the teenage brain is still forming, the prefrontal cortex is finished forming at that age. The thing is Though that the teenager has not lived as long as the wise adult, So they know less.
Next,I will be talking about the regular, average man And how He/him Relates to the “man box.” Before I start, I will talk about what a “man box” is. The man box is a metaphorical sense of bottled up feelings that the stereotypical “man” has To deal with everyday of his life. Some of These Day To Day “problems/ways of thinking” are shown here: Do not cry or release any emotion in front of other people, Do not show weakness or fear, Do not be “ like a woman,” Demonstrate power or control, views women as “ sexual objects,” ETC: So, The real question is this: how Does this so called “man box” relate to the average male homosapien? The answer Is everyday life.for example, You do not see any adult man sob their hearts out on a weekly basis. And if they do, it is not In Fronts of millions of people. Or even towards other people in general. So, If you wonder why teenage boys or even grown men can't really express their feelings As well as females can. It is part because of this “man box.” Another part of this “ man box” I would like to talk about is Demonstrating power or control. You can see this in something as playful as a little kids conversation. Let’s take a example where there are 3 kids, There names are dawn, Tom, And Jerry. They all hit a ball at the ground as hard as they can, So dawn says afterwards that his ball went up to the sky. Then Jerry says That his ball went to space, Finally, Tom yells. He yells that his ball went to Jupiter. This simple example of how MOST verbal control Works for most males in this world. Atalessont or full grown male. This is the end of the third paragraph.
Finally, I will be talking about how the middle class has been socialized. The middle class has been socialized to be the normal, the average. The place that you should be, the hard working class, ETC. but, the thing is that there is more to middle class than you think. The middle class is dropping, and it is dropping a lot. Over the past 4 years, the middle class has dropped over 20% and has gone down to to the lower class, I do not know the real reason to this. But I will find out soon as I go deeper into the subject next semester. This is the end of the last paragraph.
In conclusion, all great things must end. During your reading of this essay, I hoped you learned something among st your reading journey. Today, you should have learned about how society has been socialized by and/or told. The topics of this essay are about the stereotypical man, teenager, life in the middle class, and the differences from reality. So, I hope this essay was adequate for your time.
