The difficult truths of local farming
Reflection
Basically, this project was about finding external sources of information about food ethics and reading about the omnivores dilemma. Then preparing and cooking a meal for your family and talk about our food ethic. Since this couldn't be done anymore because of COVID, Sara decided to make the final project a personal narrative essay. Mostly I learned about the food factories and that "free ranged" chickens don't ever see the sun because they are cooped up so often that the chickens don't feel comfortable outside. I also learned about what the omnivores dilemma was
To be completely honest, for me it was confusing to wrap my head around only because there was so much information in so little time. For starters we didn't finish the book but we read through lots of different articles and readings, where only half of them I remember, and even less I used in my essay. Studying food in both of my classes made things a little easier. When humanities told us the what chemistry told us the why. This is a super productive dynamic because you need both to really understand a subject.
My main takeaways are that the omnivores dilemma makes it challenging for people to shop at grocery stores now, but it also makes me more aware of what I' m buying and what food I'm eating is made out of. This leads me to take an academic approach almost every time I look at a food label. My food ethic really hasn't changed, just because I knew a lot of the information already by living at a farm and raising livestock

Your Life on Earth: Philosophizing Purpose and Place in the 21C
Project Description: My project is a picture of my silhouetted out face of me, and the life-long quotes I follow with my philosophy. The fonts are from a wide range of names, including stencil, Greek lettering , mid evil Gothic, and Aquatico for diversity. I took my skills of digital art and made my ideas real. The essential question my project answers is "How does my “inter-textual” experience impact my personal philosophy?". It was very hard for me to come up with ideas for my project, but i am so glad i came to this branch of thinking. The inspiration started by actually not working or being productive. I was looking at Gandhi Quotes, saw a couple of good ones on the website, and realized i can make a project out of this..... A digital project. I went to work content, knowing I finally found an idea to work off of.
New insights: In this project, I developed the idea that I CAN make meaningful, and beautiful hard work. For so long I felt like every project I did at school was never very refined or was so easy I couldn't mess it up. The visual piece is one of the best works i have done since I went to Animas, and i am proud of showing it on my DP. My thinking lead me toward a way of euphoria! I'm not sure when or how I will get there, but I know now what it should feel like. An example of this thinking is when I found all these inspiration of quotes. The snake and the saw quote really hits me because it tells you how you should react to people that get in the way of your euphoric dream. Or even john F. Kennedy's quote can teach you that A euphoric life isn't always an easy one. Now that I think about it, all the quotes have that theme loosely or very tightly. however its how you interpret these quotes is whats my interpretation.
Further questions: With all this work, it made me ponder the question "how many different philosophies are there in the world". I could imagine that as long as there is a plethora of perspectives, there will be even more philosophies. However i think there is more to delve into. How many different religions that have similar philosophies are there? why didn't we mention biblical philosophy if this unit was supposed to be inter-textual?

Labor Project
the way to describe this project is to first describe what the industrial revolution was. This was a revolution started in the dark ages and is still going on now. This movement was the reason why we don't work 10 hours a day for 6 a week no longer, when you would get paid nothing to do everything for the rich. this was the beginning of our project about labor and its metamorphosis through history. Were automation and exceeded human labor and how we need to act to this very possible future.
