What exactly is LINK?
For those who don't know what LINK is, LINK is a three week long internship, that all juniors at the end of the year are required to do. Since COVID-19 swept through the nation and made things a little more difficult, this mainly means that LINK timelines can happen at different times of the year. For me, I decided to start and finish my internship on May 4th- May 22nd 2020. The main purpose of link is to show what its like to work in fields that you applied for. Getting a feel of the work environment, the application of that certain job, and a whole lot more! The purpose of LINK for me is to better expand my knowledge of how a certain type of career is done and to reflect on if I want to do this type of work. Because the benefits and dis benefits should not be ignored when choosing a type of career. To Learn more, Click on the URL link for more information.

E7 systems
My internship was at E7 systems, A social development platform that creates mobile apps and websites. I chose this internship because of my passion for computers and coding, and my interest in working with technology in the future.
Preparation/Anticipations
Fall Update:
first of all, I am a mixed of super nervous and excited. mostly nervous about first impressions, and i'm most excited about missing school. currently military service seems to gain my interest more and more, i'm sure what id do yet but i know i want to do that work. one concern i might have is to explore my interest in anyway possible. so far i have not done much to explore my interest except looking at jobs and bonuses on the go army site. honestly i wouldn't know until I tried my internship.
Winter update:
So far, I haven't confirmed a LINK yet, but I have reached out to a company called "Computer nurds plus" where I hope to get a message from my email. So far, I have refined my DP to look for this certain type of job. Along with the email, I have also considered to look for other companies if this idea is not viable.
Spring update:
I made the decision to intern at E7 systems because for one I saw how professionally built their website was, and the vast arrays of projects that they do for people. I hope to learn how to code in a professional and structured setting. I also want to broaden my coding skills. My final thoughts are that I'm glad I had to learn the process of finding an internship before I get one. It's valuable knowledge to know. I am excited to complete a finished project and get into some website designing. I was a little nervous but then I realized that my mentors are there to help me learn, not bring me down.
Reflection:
(5/21/2020)
In my perspective, This internship was definitely a success. I learned about myself that you have to make your interest more than a hobbies to pursue a career in that field. It takes work that you can't cut around or skip, Because if you actually like to do something, you need to endure the tedious, the boring, and the parts you don't want to do just as much as the things you do want to do. In regards to the professional world of computer science, I learned that you need a lot more than good coding skills to make money off of your passion. You need to know how to talk to people and communicate well. I knew that any job-related experiences involve a lot of professionalism. But just as important as professionalism is to interning, the opposite is just as important. Having a connection with your mentors can make communication much easier and effective when used properly. This changed my idea of the work environment because it was all professional, and anything else would be disrespectful to the working environment. I plan to return to E7 systems to intern once again, i am also taking coding classes for most of senior year.

My Project:
For my LINK project, my mentor and I took a questionnaire take on the Corona Virus. With 20 questions and heavily refined code to back up this project. The point of this project is to eliminate unknown biases. and improve general information to the public. This is because there is a lot of faulty evidence and information involved on the internet, So I took a lot of time researching myself to make this quiz . This questionnaire really showed me what type of work i can make, and I am not disappointed. Enjoy!
